    The National Hispanic Cultural Center 2025 Free Summer Film Series will celebrate Hispanic/Latinx/Chicana/Indigenous filmmakers, directors, academics, students and screenwriters. We will examine the power of our stories in film through independent, documentary, and mocumentary Hispanic/Latinx/Chicana/Indigenous films, as well as issues of equity and access. We aim to address disparity in the film industry by providing rising Hispanic/Latinx/Chicana/Indigenous filmmakers with insight and skills to advance their careers while increasing awareness of their skills and unique perspectives as filmmakers, directors, and screenwriters.

Using the power of storytelling in film to show nonfiction/documentary POV films (known for their intimacy, their unforgettable storytelling and their timeliness, putting a human face on contemporary social issues.) with a panel discussion afterwards and in partnership with various nonprofits. Event Description: We will be Screening films from POV /PBS to build Communities Committed to Action on contemporary social issues. Educate, Inspire, and Act! On the Third Wednesday of the Month. This is the inaugural screening of Sanctuary Cinema. Schedule: 7pm arrival 7:30 pm Screening 90 min 9pm Panel Discussion 10 pm Program Ends

The film introduces us to people from all over the world as they contemplate the uncertainty of a future in the United States at a time when asylum legislation and LGBTQ+ rights are under legal duress. To the Future, With Love - By Shaleece Haas: Meet 19-year-old Hunter “Pixel” Jimenez, a nonbinary trans boy caught between the expectations of his Guatemalan immigrant family and his dreams of living happily ever after.
